HEY ITS CHELS

My obsessions with arts, crafts, and “treasures” is something that has been passed down through my family for generations. There is nothing I like better than sitting in my craft room and creating things. While I had been making things my whole life, my first professional art was with Henna. I have been a professional Henna artist for 10 years working with Halifax Henna. Shortly after that I began working with maple trees and creating ornaments and coasters (that is why my pottery shop name is the Maple Market!). After selling my products at crafts shows for a few year I opened my first Etsy shop which really opened my eyes to online marketplaces.

In 2021 I was a new mom and looking for new hobbies. I joined a pottery class, which was a very humbling experience. After 8 months of taking classes I really started to understand working with clay, and my skills were slowly starting to develop. I knew that with my experience doing henna that I had a very unique skill set and the opportunity to combine my love of both. This led me down the rabbit hole of slip casting and figuring out how to get clay into my henna cone.

My husband thinks I am way too picky, but still to this day I am quick to throw a piece away if it doesn’t meet my expectations. I am still learning new things with every pour, trim, glaze, day, week, month and year but I am very proud of how far I have come in the pottery world.

I really hope you appreciate my art and are excited to follow me as I figure out this whole thing. I wish I could just make things every day and never sell them …. but I have to keep my craft room clean somehow!
